Have Kenyans living abroad been ignored?

Kenyans in the Diaspora are about 3 million people. They are a major contributor to Kenya's growth. In a recent visit to the U.S. - Musalia Mudavadi, Martha Karua, among other leaders discussed several topics which spanned from investment opportunies, voting, reforms, etc.

One of the topics discussed was Investment opportunities for the Diaspora. Members of the diaspora contribute more towards the economy than areas such as tourism bring to the country. But how long will this last given the generation born or raised abroad are now becoming adults. The children born abroad or raised in the Diaspora will be more American, Canadian, etc. than they will be or feel Kenyan.

Musalia Mudavadia also encouraged the diaspora to contrinute to a Diaspora bond. With a Diaspora bond, Kenyans in the diaspora can fund major infrastructure projects and provide a channel towards reducing Kenyan debt. Instead of borrowing from China, Norway, etc. - borrow from Kenyans in the Diaspora who are the highest remittance group to Kenya.
